Fritz Hansen introduced Arne Jacobsen’s Grand Prix™ design in 1957 at the Designers’ Spring Exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen. Later that year, the chair was displayed at the Triennale in Milan, where it won the Grand Prix: the finest distinction of the exhibition and the reason behind the chair’s moniker.

The Grand Prix chair is available with a steel base in three different heights or with its original wooden base, making it an ideal chair for a wide range of applications. The steel base chairs are stackable. Grand Prix is also available with a swivel base on castors.

The shell is in pressure molded veneer. The inner veneer is always beech and the outer veneer is available in 2 different natural veneers: oak or walnut, as well as in coloured ash in 2 different colours: white or black. An extensive palette of colours, wood types, and fabric or leather upholstery options allows for further personalization of Grand Prix.

The elegant and functional Grand Prix chair perfectly complements the other models of the Fritz Hansen brand, the magnificent icons of Arne Jacobsen — The Series 7 chair and The Ant chair. By mixing and combining these collections, you can create your own unique style in particular interior or different areas of the public space.
